Paul Gaudet – Lower Cape, N.B.

At 70, Paul Gaudet still works full-time managing staff at Hopewell Rocks.

Paul is also an avid hiker involved in the Moncton Outdoor Enthusiasts Club. He leads weekly hikes, everything from easy to strenuous.  Other members of the club are also prime examples of Silver Warriors. Some in their 80s easily keep up with the younger members of the group on extensive hikes. The group is also a great example of inclusivity of all ages and levels of capability to hike.

Paul says it’s important to try to get out and do what you can whether that’s a few steps around the block or full on hiking or other sport in which you are interested.

We want to hear from anyone who thinks they know a Silver Warrior who they think should be featured.  (I have not advertised these sites until we have a few stories to post.)

Donna Van Koll – Chilliwack, BC

Donna has spent her life in service to others, currently spending two days a week working with challenged adults at the local hospital and keeping a caring eye on others in her 55+ apartment building.  A retired professional, she is often found shopping, delivering meals, and offering advice and support to family, friends and acquaintances. She has served on her HOA board.   At 73 years old Donna still manages the cottage she shared with her husband. She takes on maintenance and all the regular chores including putting up storm windows and lugging firewood. That keeps her active and fit, as does walking instead of driving to run errands, volunteer and shop. Donna’s energy, positive outlook and balanced lifestyle are an inspiration to family and friends.
